DAYCARE AIDE

 

REPORTS TO:  Daycare Director

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High School Diploma or GED.
  2. Associates Degree preferred.
  3. Satisfy Requirements for Child-Care Employees as defined by TAC 746.1017.

 

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Provides infant/toddler students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth; enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  Noncontractual (At Will) Manual Trades/ Pay Grade 3/ 187 Days

Wage/Hour Status:  Nonexempt

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  1. Develops and implements lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the child care program and show written evidence of preparation as required.
  2. Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and requirement that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.
  3. Conducts assessments of student learning styles and use results for instructional activities.
  4. Assis in preparing food for children and serve meals, refreshments, and rest periods to children.
  5. Maintains classroom behavior management system. Promotes positive behavior such as children taking responsibility for own clothing and picking up toys and books.
  6. Dresses and changes diapers as well as observe and monitor children’s play activities.
  7. Identifies signs of emotional or developmental issues in children and bring them to the parents’ or guardians’ attention.
  8. Instructs children in health and personal habits such as eating, resting, and toilet habits.
  9. Keeps records on individual children, including daily observations and information about learning activities, meals served, and medications administered.
  10. Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect children, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  11. Maintain a professional relationship with all colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
  12. Promotes teamwork and interaction with fellow staff members.
  13. Is prompt, timely, and thorough in completing assignments and attending to details accurately and efficiently.
  14. Is regular in attendance and complies with notification procedures for absences.
  15. Provides complete and accurate information, while maintaining confidentiality, in the conduct of district business.
  16. Participates in staff development training programs to improve job performance.
  17. Participates in meetings and special events as assigned.
  18. Complies with district policies, as well as state and federal laws and regulations.
  19. Complies with directions and instructions from supervisor and performs other tasks and assumes such responsibilities as may be assigned.

 

EQUIPMENT USED:  Standard office equipment including computer, copier, printer, calculator, and audio visual equipment.

Mental Demands:  Reading, ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); maintain emotional control under stress; interpret policy, procedures, and data.

 

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Frequent standing, walking, stooping, bending, kneeling, twisting, wrist flexion/extension, reaching/overhead, reaching and kneeling, and climbing (ladder) pulling, pushing; frequent light   lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); may require occasional moderate lifting (15-44   pounds) and position of students with physical disabilities.
