QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High School Diploma or GED preferred.

 

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

In support of the mission of the school district, performs routine, manual work involving moderate to heavy cleaning of designated areas of a school district building such as classrooms, offices, restrooms, cafeterias, and hallways.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  Noncontractual (At-will), Manual/Technical Pay Grade 1

226 Days, estimated 8 hours daily (2:00 pm- 10:30 pm)

 

Wage/Hour Status:  Nonexempt

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  1. Performs the essential functions of walking and interacting with students and/or district employees.
  2. Sweeps, wet and dry mops, strips, buffs, and waxes floors: participates in stripping floors.
  3. Vacuums and shampoos carpet: removes spots and stains from carpets.
  4. Cleans restroom floors, walls, sinks, urinals, and commodes; replaces toilet paper, towels, and soap; washes and polishes fixtures; cleans windows and mirrors.
  5. Cleans and washes cafeteria tables, countertops and fixtures; sets-up tables and chairs and moves furniture; dusts furniture, desks, woodwork, and blinds; replaces light bulbs.
  6. Roves paper, trash, and garbage from assigned areas and places in proper containers for disposal.
  7. Operates custodial equipment such as buffers, vacuum cleaners, shampoo machines, and water extractor; may operate laundry equipment.
  8. Patrols grounds around building; picks-up paper, cans, trash, and debris; cleans walkways.
  9. Is prompt, timely, and thorough in completing assignments and attending to details accurately and efficiently.
  10. Is regular in attendance and complies with notification procedures for absences.
  11. Provides complete and accurate information, while maintaining confidentiality, in the conduct of district business.
  12. Participates in staff development training programs to improve job performance.
  13. Participates in meetings and special events as assigned.
  14. Complies with district policies, as well as state and federal laws and regulations.
  15. Complies with directions and instructions from supervisor and performs other tasks and assumes such responsibilities as may be assigned.

 

 

EQUIPMENT USED:  Floor care equipment including:  waxing machine, buffer, mops, vacuum, sweeper, and shampooer.  Computer, copier, and other standard office equipment.

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Repetitive hand motions; prolonged standing, walking; frequent stooping, bending, kneeling, twisting, wrist flexion/extension, reaching/overhead, kneeling, climbing (ladder) pulling, and  pushing; moderate lifting and  carrying (15-44 pounds);  moderate exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, prolongs use of computer terminal possible; district and state travel; frequent prolonged and irregular hours; possible biological exposure to bacteria and communicable diseases; specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus.
